มหาวิทยาลัยมีความร่วมมือกับชุมชนท้องถิ่นในการอนุรักษ์ และใช้ประโยชน์ร่วมกันในระบบนิเวศบนบก ได้เเก่ ความร่วมมือกับเทศบาลตำบลบางกะจะ จ.จันทบุรี โดยได้รับการสนับสนุนงบประมาณจากสำนักงานพัฒนาเศรษฐกิจจากฐานชีวภาพ (BEDO) ในการดำเนินโครงการธนาคารความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพ ได้เเก่ การสำรวจพันธุ์ การจัดทำแปลงธนาคารเพื่อปลูกขยายกกกลม การจัดทำระบบฝากถอนเพื่อการใช้ประโยชน์ การแปรรูปกกกลมเพื่อพัฒนาเป็นผลิตภัณฑ์เสื่อกกจันทบูร นอกจากนี้มหาวิทยาลัยยังมียุทธศาสตร์เพื่อการพัฒนาท้องถิ่น โดยดำเนินโครงการจากผืนป่าเเละภูมิปัญญาท้องถิ่นสู่ศูนย์การเรียนรู้เพื่อการพัฒนาการบริหารจัดการทรัพยากรชุมชนอย่างยั่งยืน มีโครงการอบรมการแปรรูปอาหารจากระกำร่วมกับวิสาหกิจชุมชน และองค์การบริหารส่วนตำบลช้างทูน จ.ตราด ในการพัฒนาและยกระดับมาตรฐานผลิตภัณฑ์อาหารจากระกำ และมีความร่วมมือกับเทศบาลตำบลสองพี่น้อง จ.จันทบุรี โดยการจัดโครงการเพาะเห็ดกินได้ เพื่อการประกอบอาชีพ เพื่อเสริมพลังให้กับกลุ่มผู้สูงอายุ เเละเยาวชนในโรงเรียน ต.สองพี่น้อง อ.ท่าใหม่ จ.จันทบุรี ซึ่งส่งผลทำให้ ต. สองพี่น้องได้รับรางวัลตำบลเข้มเเข็งระดับประเทศ

The university collaborated with local communities to conserve and sustainably utilize terrestrial ecosystems. In partnership with Bang Kacha Municipality, Chanthaburi Province, and with funding support from the Biodiversity-Based Economy Development Office (BEDO), the university implemented the Biodiversity Bank Project, which included species surveys, the establishment of biodiversity bank plots for round sedge propagation, and the development of a deposit–withdrawal system for community use. The project also promoted the processing of round sedge into Chanthaboon reed mat products to add economic value. Furthermore, the university carried out a local development strategy through the project “From Forest and Local Wisdom to the Learning Center for Sustainable Community Resource Management.” It also organized training on salacca food processing in collaboration with the Chang Thun Subdistrict Administrative Organization and community enterprises in Trat Province, aiming to enhance and upgrade the quality and standards of salacca-based food products. In addition, cooperation with Song Phi Nong Municipality, Chanthaburi Province, led to the Edible Mushroom Cultivation Project for Occupation Development, empowering elderly groups and youth from local schools in Song Phi Nong Subdistrict, Tha Mai District. As a result of these initiatives, Song Phi Nong Subdistrict received a national award for strong community development.
