The course "H.M. King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s Philosophy for Sustainable Development" at Rambhai Barni Rajabhat University is a pioneering course within the General Education (GE) curriculum, having been actively promoted since 2017.
The objective of this course is to enable learners to study the King's Philosophy across various dimensions. These include the "Understand, Reach Out, and Develop" principle, the socio-geographical context, the 27 working principles, the principles of governance based on Buddhist Dharma, and the dimension of human development through education. The curriculum also covers the royal approach to national development, various Royal Projects (particularly those in Chanthaburi that solved local people's problems), the royal guidance and speeches of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great (Rama IX), the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy, and His Majesty's genius in various fields.
The instruction combines both theoretical and practical components. Theoretical learning consists of in-class lectures delivered by faculty members from all 10 faculties. The practical component involves students participating in hands-on activities that benefit the university, utilizing key sites such as Suan Ban Kaew Palace and the Sufficiency Economy Learning Center on campus.
Each academic year, over 1,000 students enroll in the course and engage in university activities. This includes fieldwork at Suan Ban Kaew Palace, where they contribute to the development of the "university within the palace" through volunteer activities and landscape improvement. A dedicated Facebook page is used to publicize both in-class and extracurricular activities.
In 2025, students in the course collaborated with the Office of Arts and Culture and Community Development to integrate and enhance the landscape of Suan Ban Kaew Palace. This initiative aimed to foster social consciousness among learners, promote cooperation among all faculties and network partners, and train students to contribute positively to the well-being of Rambhai Barni Rajabhat University.
